Hello, I'm Deborah (Debbie) and I live in Chandlers Ford, UK with my wonderful husband in our blended family. We both have children born with various syndromes and conditions. It is due to my son having complex medical needs that my interest in Homeopathy and need to understand the human body began. For much of my life I have also been interested in how the natural world contains much of what we need to heal.
My early career was spent working in retail management, training staff where focusing on the individual needs of others was important. I enjoy working with people and getting to understand their view points.
I had to leave this part of my career when my son was born, his needs were such that I researched and learnt so much about the human body and how it doesn’t always go to plan as far as how it should behave. The nurse’s dictionary I purchased all those years ago still has pride of place on my desk!
By nature I have an inquisitive and curious mind and I refused to accept the bleak and negative views regarding my sons’ future life. I researched various methods of treatment including natural health approaches and felt empowered to ask questions around his care and (at times) challenge what I was told were his 'only options'.
When I was able to return to work, I was practice manager in a chiropractic clinic where Homeopaths also worked. This is where my son received his first homeopathic remedy. It was a huge help to him and us as a family. I was amazed how changes in him helped us all....even extended family and friends witnessed the benefits they could see in us. This is where my love and interest in homeopathy began.
When the time felt right I chose to study alongside being a full-time carer to my son and stepdaughter. I chose to study the 4-year course at The School of Homeopathy. My passion is to help people on their health journey using the natural healing benefits of homeopathy. I enjoy working with parents of children and adults who also have special needs or are on the spectrum. I can use Makaton which has helped with communication where I am able to see and hear their stories with empathy and understanding because of my own experiences and frustrations. I also work with various illnesses and conditions. I like to research into anything I come across and I am always updating and learning new skills.
In my work now, both within the world of special needs, where there are so many variables and unknown expectations and outside, in the 'average' persons life, I recognise that we are all unique and different. I loved (and still do!) trying to find approaches that helped us as a family to cope with my sons growing needs as he transitioned from childhood into the amazing man he is today.
I am a classically trained homeopath and registered with the Society of Homeopaths which represents professional homeopaths in the UK and Europe, I abide to the code of ethics and practice.
